Assistive Technology, Telecare and enablement: Matching Technology to the Person
Abstract:
There is a need for assistive technology and telecare to match and support the abilities, needs and wishes of the person being supported.
This workshop will explore different ways in which a person’s needs are assessed and examine the different factors which influence how assistive technologies and telecare solutions are being prescribed by professionals.
Learning Outcomes:

To provide an outline of the concept of maximising the ‘fit’ between the person, their environment and their daily activities through the use of assistive technologies.

To examine different assessment strategies used in the prescription of assistive technologies and telecare.

To review existing selection criteria for assistive technologies and telecare products.
